WITHDRAWAL OF THE UNITED KINGDOM OF GREAT BRITAIN AND NORTHERN IRELAND FROM THE EUROPEAN UNION

The Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago notes that on 31st January, 2020, at 7:00 p.m. local time, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is scheduled to withdraw as a Member State from the European Union.


Under the terms of the Agreement on the Withdrawal of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland from the European Union, provision is made for a transition period until 31st December, 2020, within which European Union law will continue to be applicable to the United Kingdom.


The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago welcomes the continued application of the European Union’s international (bilateral and multilateral) agreements during the transition period. The Government of Trinidad and Tobago will continue to treat the United Kingdom as a European Union Member State for the duration of the transition period.
