New Heads of Trinidad and Tobago Overseas Mission receive Instruments of Appointment.

PORT OF SPAIN: 12TH APRIL, 2017

Two new Heads of Trinidad and Tobago Overseas Mission were presented with their Instruments of Appointment today Tuesday 11th April, 2017 at the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs.

Senator the Honourable Dennis Moses, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs made the presentation on behalf of Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Keith Rowley.

His Excellency Orville London will assume duties as the High Commissioner for the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to the United Kingdom while Her Excellency Tracey Davidson-Celestine will serve as Ambassador of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to Costa Rica.

During the brief presentation ceremony, Minister Moses underscored that both High Commissioner-designate London and Ambassador-designate Davidson-Celestine bring to their new positions a wealth of experience in the service of Trinidad and Tobago. Both Heads of Mission were former elected members of the Tobago House of Assembly (THA), in the capacities of Chief Secretary of the THA and Deputy Chief Secretary, respectively. Minister Moses further stated that the Government of Trinidad and Tobago is eager to have the High Commission in London and the Embassy in San José advance the interests of Trinidad and Tobago with new Heads of Mission who are properly seized of Government’s economic and social objectives and a comprehensive and sound understanding of the needs of the country.

Minister Moses highlighted trade and investment, tourism, security collaboration, energy, creating opportunities and avenues for cultural expression and a more constructive and productive engaging of the Trinidad and Tobago and the wider West Indian Diaspora as some of the key areas for the new Heads of Mission to advance for Trinidad and Tobago.

Additionally, Minister Moses urged the Heads of Mission to strengthen and deepen relationships with the United Kingdom and Costa Rica, emphasizing that the maintenance of both relationships towards the achievement of Trinidad and Tobago’s goals requires innovative approaches, strong leadership, diplomatic skill and the creative pursuit of engagement.
