Update on Trinidad and Tobago Nationals in Egypt

PORT OF SPAIN: 12TH APRIL, 2017

The Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs awaits official information to confirm the nationalities of the deceased following the bomb attacks at two Coptic churches in the Northern cities of Tanta and Alexandria, Egypt. The incident occurred on Sunday 9th April, 2017 and resulted in death and injury.

Following the attacks, His Excellency Abdul Fattah al-Sisi, President of Egypt called for a three-month state of emergency. Trinidad and Tobago nationals travelling to Egypt are advised to be vigilant and to adhere to the increased security measures implemented as a result of the attacks.

The Government and the people of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago stand firm with the people of Egypt in ensuring that citizens of that country can live their daily lives without fear or anxiety. In this regard, we continue to pray for the safety and security of the Egyptian people
