Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs Officially Welcomes New Minister and Parliamentary Secretary

On Monday 5th May, 2025, the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs formally welcomed the Honourable Sean Sobers M.P. as the new Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs and Mr. Wilfred Nicholas Morris M.P. as the Parliamentary Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister and Ministry of Foreign andCARICOM Affairs.

Upon their arrival at the Ministry, the Honourable Minister Sobers and Parliamentary Secretary Morris were greeted by the Permanent Secretary, Ms. Reita Toussaint, and Deputy Permanent Secretaries, Mrs. Neela Ram-Atwaroo and Ms. Erica Jogues Fortune.

The newly appointed leaders received comprehensive verbal briefings from the Ministry’s executive team, providing an overview of its key functions and ongoing initiatives. Following these briefings, Minister Sobers and Parliamentary Secretary Morris, engaged directly with staff members across the various Divisions and Units of the Ministry. This provided an opportunity for personal introductions and initial discussions on the Ministry’s crucial work.

The Honourable Minister Sobers expressed his sincere appreciation for the warm and welcoming reception extended by the staff and management. He stated his enthusiasm for fostering a productive and collaborative working environment, emphasizing the critical role of the Ministry in shaping and executing the foreign policy and diplomacy of Trinidad and Tobago. Minister Sobers affirmed his commitment to working diligently with the Ministry’s team to advance the nation’s interests and strengthen its relationships on the international stage for the betterment of Trinidad and Tobago.
