Arrest and Detention of Non-nationals while visiting Trinidad and Tobago

It is worth noting that Trinidad and Tobago laws may be different to the laws of your home country. Therefore, when visiting or residing in Trinidad and Tobago, non-nationals may, from time to time, find themselves in situations where they are arrested or detained.

Prior to arrival in Trinidad and Tobago, non-nationals should familiarize themselves with the contact information for the Embassy, High Commission or Consulate of their country resident in Trinidad and Tobago. Please find this list available here.

It is also imperative that you enquire as to the level of assistance your government would be willing to offer you if you get arrested or detained while in Trinidad and Tobago. This assistance can be given through the Embassy, High Commission or Consulate of your home country.
