The Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs takes note of recent comments attributed to
Venezuela’s Justice Minister, Mr. Diosdado Cabello, as reported in the Trinidad and Tobago
Guardian on 7th August 2025. The statements, which suggest that Trinidad and Tobago is being used
as a conduit for individuals allegedly involved in destabilising activities against the Government of
the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, are a cause for great concern.
In light of the seriousness of these remarks, the Ministry has reached out to the Embassy of the
Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in Caracas to obtain further information and clarification. Upon
receipt of additional details, the Ministry will provide a further update to the national community.
Trinidad and Tobago remains committed to maintaining a constructive and respectful relationship
with the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, grounded in mutual cooperation, regional stability, and
the principles of sovereign equality.
