Trinidad and Tobago Delegation attends 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly

PORT OF SPAIN: 22ND SEPTEMBER 2025

The Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs advises that Trinidad and Tobago will participate in the High-level week of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), taking place in New York during the period 22nd-30th September 2025.

The delegation will be led by the Honourable Kamla Persad-Bissessar S.C., Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, who is expected to travel in the coming days. Ahead of her arrival, the Honourable Sean Sobers M.P., Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, departed Trinidad and Tobago on Saturday 20th September 2025 as part of the advance team, accompanied by senior officials.

While in New York, the Prime Minister and Trinidad and Tobago delegation will engage in a series of high-level bilateral meetings with representatives from a wide cross-section of countries and international organisations. These include the United States of America, Canada, the United Kingdom, the Republic of India, the People's Republic of China, the Republic of Austria, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Cuba, Portugal, Benin, Monaco, the Federal Republic of Germany, the Republic of Ghana, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Kuwait, and several CARICOM Member States. These discussions will focus on strengthening diplomatic ties and exploring opportunities for collaboration across key areas of mutual interest including economic cooperation, trade and investment, energy cooperation, air transportation, agriculture, healthcare and security.

A major highlight of the visit will be the Prime Minister’s Address to the United Nations General Assembly, scheduled for Friday 26th September 2025.
