High Commission in Kingston, Jamaica

History of the Mission

The High Commission for the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Kingston, Jamaica was established in 1963. It is the only overseas Mission of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in a CARICOM country and as such performs a critical role in the execution of regional foreign policy.

The Mission also has jurisdiction for Haiti and the Dominican Republic, countries to which the High Commissioner for the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to Jamaica is accredited as non-resident Ambassador.

In addition to its representational functions and deepening Bilateral Relations, the High Commission also provides consular and immigration services to nationals and foreigners, resident in countries to which the Mission is accredited and those in close proximity to Jamaica. The latter includes The Bahamas and the Cayman Islands.

The High Commission is also accredited at the multi-lateral level to the International Seabed Authority.
