AMBASSADOR OF JAPAN TO TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO HOSTS TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO'S MINISTER OF FOREIGN AND CARICOM AFFAIRS FOR DIPLOMATIC LUNCHEON

His Excellency Dr. Akima Umezawa, Ambassador of Japan to Trinidad and Tobago, graciously hosted Senator the Honourable Dr. Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, along with key officials of the Ministry including Ms. Reita Toussaint, Permanent Secretary; at a cordial lunch at the Ambassador's Residence, on Friday 14th February, 2025. 

During the lunch, there were insightful discussions on several pivotal topics, including the recently concluded 8th CARICOM-Japan Ministerial Meeting held in Tokyo in December 2024 and the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Trinidad and Tobago and Japan in 2024. Future opportunities for cooperation in various sectors between the two nations were also discussed, such as the upcoming Expo 2025 in Osaka, scheduled from April to October, 2025. Other matters addressed included critical consular issues, candidatures and current global challenges impacting both nations. 

Both Minister Browne and Ambassador Umezawa expressed their commitment to fostering enduring ties and indicated their willingness to further discuss ways to enhance collaboration in the near future.
