Senator the Honourable Dr. Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs presented an Instrument of Appointment on behalf of Dr. Keith Rowley, Prime Minster of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, to Ms. Jennifer Marchand on 12th May, 2022 at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs. Her Excellency Jennifer Marchand will assume duties as Trinidad and Tobago’s newly appointed Ambassador to the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).
During the brief presentation ceremony, Minister Browne congratulated Ambassador Marchand on her appointment and thanked her for her willingness to serve Trinidad and Tobago. Her Excellency will be a member of the CARICOM Committee of Ambassadors (CCA) which is a body established by the Heads of Government of CARICOM.
Ambassador Marchand has considerable experience in international relations and diplomacy, having worked for 28 years as a career diplomat at the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs until her retirement in 2020. Her Excellency brings a wealth of knowledge to the position of Trinidad and Tobago’s Ambassador to CARICOM having served in an extensive number of positions in the Foreign Service of Trinidad and Tobago including: Director, CARICOM and Caribbean Affairs Division from 2012 to 2019; Minister Counsellor, Embassy of the Republic of
Trinidad and Tobago, San Jose, Costa Rica from 2008 to 2010; and First Secretary and Counsellor, Embassy of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Washington D.C., United States of America from 1998 to 2005.
Prior to her retirement, Ambassador Marchand held the position of Deputy Permanent Secretary (Ag.), Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, from 2019 to 2020. Her Excellency Jennifer Marchand holds a Post Graduate Diploma in International Relations, The University of the West Indies and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (Executive), The University of the West Indies.
