Leaders of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) will meet this afternoon in emergency session
to address the situation in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Prime Minister Dr the Honourable Keith Rowley, in his capacity as Chairman of CARICOM, has convened the meeting to ensure that a fulsome regional response is rolled out in support of the People and Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
The Trinidad and Tobago delegation will be led by Prime Minister Rowley and include Senator the Honourable Dr. Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, the Honourable Stuart Young, Minister of National Security and Ms. Frances Seignoret, Ambassador of Trinidad and Tobago to CARICOM.
The Meeting will receive presentations from Dr. the Honourable Ralph Gonsalves, Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA), and the Seismic Research Unit of the University of the West Indies.
CARICOM states, including Trinidad and Tobago, as well as key regional institutions have already
mobilized significant assistance to the beleaguered nation and are committed to supporting St.
Vincent and the Grenadines throughout this challenging period.
