COURTESY CALL BY HER EXCELLENCY AYŞE SELCAN ŞANLI, AMBASSADOR-DESIGNATE OF THE REPUBLIC OF TÜRKIYE TO THE REPUBLIC OF TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO PRIOR TO THE PRESENTATION OF CREDENTIALS

On January 20th, 2025, Senator the Honourable Dr. Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, welcomed Her Excellency Ayşe Selcan Şanli, Ambassador-designate of the Republic of Türkiye, to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. The courtesy call took place ahead of the presentation of credentials to Her Excellency Christine Carla Kangaloo, ORTT, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, scheduled for January 21st, 2025.

Minister Browne extended a warm welcome to Ambassador-designate Şanli, congratulating her on her first ambassadorial appointment. He acknowledged Türkiye's important role in matters of peace, security, and development, and reflected on the robust foundation laid by the former Ambassador of Türkiye, Her Excellency Bengü Yiğitgüden, in advancing relations between Trinidad and Tobago and Türkiye. Minister Browne also emphasised that the Government of Trinidad and Tobago places significant value on our relationship with Türkiye.

Ambassador-designate Şanli expressed her gratitude for the Minister’s welcome and kind remarks. Her Excellency emphasized her aim to build on the work of the former Ambassador. Highlighting the rich cultures of both nations, she outlined her intention to foster people-to-people and socio-cultural exchanges, along with cooperation in the commercial, energy, and parliamentary sectors.
