The Government and People of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago extend sincere condolences to the Government and people of the Republic of Haiti and the family of Mr. René Préval, former President of Republic of Haiti on the occasion of his sudden passing on 3rd March, 2017.
The Government takes the opportunity to pay tribute to the memory of Mr. Préval who served as President to the Republic of Haiti from 1996 to 2001 and 2006 to 2011. During his term in office, he served the people of the Caribbean Community and demonstrated his commitment to political stability, democracy and the rule of law.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones at this time as we mourn his passing.
