In a virtual ceremony on March 29, 2021 His Excellency the Right Honourable Richard Wagner, P.C., Administrator of the Government of Canada received the Letters of Credence of His Excellency Dennis D. Moses, accrediting him as High Commissioner for the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to Canada.
The High Commissioner is now the official representative of the President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in Canada and is responsible for the conduct of relations between the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and the Government of Canada.
During the ceremony, the Right Honourable Richard Wagner, P.C., Administrator of the Government of Canada, acknowledged the deep ties and shared interests of Canada and Trinidad and Tobago, and acknowledged the significant contribution of Trinidad and Tobago nationals to Canada, to its rich diversity. He advised that Canada is eager to build back better following the devastating effects of COVID-19, especially in the areas of tourism, inclusive economic recovery and sustainable climate resilience.
His Excellency Dennis D. Moses has established a distinguished career in international relations and diplomacy spanning more than forty years. During the period 2015 to 2020 His Excellency served as Senator and Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, as well as Minister in the Ministry of National Security of Trinidad and Tobago. An experienced diplomat with a wealth of knowledge, he has worked in a number of international organisations at senior levels as the representative of two of those organisations in different countries for a total of fifteen years. He served as a career diplomat and was assigned to the Embassy of Trinidad and Tobago in Brussels during the period 1983 to 1989. His Excellency holds a degree in Agriculture, a MSc. degree in Agronomy and a Post Graduate Diploma in International Affairs. He is fluent in the English, Spanish and French languages.
