The Kingdom of Sweden to establish an Honorary Consul in Tobago

Senator the Honourable Dennis Moses, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs was informed by His Excellency Claes Hammar, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago that the Kingdom of Sweden is working on establishing an Honorary Consul in Tobago.  The discussion took place during a recent farewell courtesy call at the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affair.

During the discussion, His Excellency Hammar made mention of the mutual support demonstrated by both countries in international fora and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for Technical Cooperation between Foreign Ministers of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden) at the United Nations General Assembly in New York.  His Excellency Hammar also expressed the interest of Sweden in partnering with the region in the areas of Climate Change and Renewable Energy.  
        
The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and the Kingdom of Sweden have enjoyed a fruitful relationship since the formal establishment of diplomatic relations in July 1966.  His Excellency Hammar has served as Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago, resident in Stockholm, since 23rd March, 2011.
