Senator the Honorable Dr. Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, in his capacity as President of the Council of Ministers of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), chaired the Briefing Meeting of the Bureau of the OACPS Council of Ministers in New York on Thursday September 22, 2022. Also at the Head Table is H.E. Colin Connelly, Ambassador of Trinidad and Tobago to Belgium and President of the Committee of Ambassadors; His Excellency Georges Rebelo Pinto Chikoti, Secretary-General of the OACPS; and Dr. Norbert Richard Ibrahim, Assistant Secretary-General (ASG) of the OACPS.
Minister Browne gratefully acknowledged the strong presence of the OACPS member countries at this Meeting and in particular, recognized the delegation of Angola, which country will host the 10th Summit of OACPS Heads of State, in Luanda, in December 2022.
The OACPS Secretary-General noted that the 10th summit would be held in accordance with the revised Georgetown Agreement and Heads are expected to review the commitments made at the 9th Summit of OACPS Heads of State, in Nairobi, in December 2019. They will also discuss progress on the implementation of the new OACPS-European Union (EU) Partnership Agreement and allow for high-level dialogue on areas such as women, youth and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
