On 16th July, 2019, Her Excellency Martha Cecilia Pinilla-Perdomo, newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Colombia paid a Courtesy Call on Senator the Honourable Dennis Moses, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs at the Ministry’s headquarters. The Courtesy Call on Minister Moses preceded Ambassador Pinilla-Perdomo’s presentation of her Letters of Credence to Her Excellency Paula-Mae Weekes, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
Commenting on the relationship between Trinidad and Tobago and Colombia, Ambassador Pinilla-Perdomo highlighted the importance of Trinidad and Tobago to Colombia and advised that His Excellency Ivan Duque Marquez, President of the Republic of Colombia requested that she work towards deepening the bilateral relationship between the two countries.
Recognising the importance of the relationship between Trinidad and Tobago and Colombia, Minister Moses acknowledged the advances made in strengthening bilateral relations between Trinidad and Tobago and Colombia. The Honourable Minister noted in particular, that the Language Training Initiative for Public Servants and the recent visit of His Excellency Carlos Holmes Trujillo, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia to Trinidad and Tobago contributed to solidifying this country’s ties with Colombia. He further stressed that Trinidad and Tobago stood ready to collaborate with Colombia in other areas of mutual interest.
