PORT OF SPAIN: 22ND JUNE, 2022 Senator the Honourable Dr. Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs delivered remarks at a reception held to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The reception which was held on 15th June 2022 was hosted by Her Excellency Harriet Cross, High Commissioner for the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
Her Excellency High Commissioner Cross addressed the gathering bringing warm greetings on the celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. She highlighted the history of collaboration and cooperation between Trinidad and Tobago and the United Kingdom in various spheres and the continued success of such engagement.
During his remarks, Minister Browne emphasised the joint collaboration which spans a myriad of sectors including education, energy, health, security and trade as a testament to the vibrant and dynamic partnership between Trinidad and Tobago and the United Kingdom, underpinned by mutual respect and commitment to the welfare of their people. He pointed out that the relationship extends beyond bilateral engagement, referring to the support provided by the United Kingdom through its trade relationship with the wider Caribbean region, as demonstrated by the CARIFORUM-United Kingdom Economic Partnership Agreement.
The Minister observed that that the commemoration of Her Majesty’s Platinum Year is also a double celebration, as the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and the United Kingdom will observe sixty (60) years of diplomatic relations in 2022.
Commending Her Excellency Harriet Cross for her contribution to the advancement of relations between Trinidad and Tobago and the United Kingdom, Minister Browne noted her strong sense of duty and took the opportunity to thank Her Excellency and the dedicated staff at the High Commission for their continued support to the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs.
In conclusion, Minister Browne extended warmest wishes for continued good health and well-being to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on behalf of the Government and People of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
