Senator the Honourable Dr. Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, participated in a farewell reception held in honour of Her Excellency Candace A. Bond, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, who will soon depart this country at the end of her assignment. The event was hosted by the His Excellency Peter Cavendish, Ambassador of the European Union, in Cascade, Port of Spain, earlier today, Thursday January 9th, 2025.
During his remarks, Minister Browne lauded the outgoing Ambassador, noting that her work represented a milestone in the relationship between Trinidad and Tobago and the United States of America.
Minister Browne recognised Her Excellency’s efforts towards economic and security cooperation and emphasized that Ambassador Bond’s support created an environment in which high-level engagements flourished. Among the significant outcomes were the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in June 2024, to develop opportunities and support financing in the areas of maritime domain awareness, cybersecurity, renewable energy and water sanitation; and the provision of a Letter of Interest to Trinidad and Tobago’s Ministry of Finance by the US Export-Import Bank to finance maritime vessels and aircraft in support of Trinidad and Tobago’s search-and-rescue and border security efforts.
Minister Browne also highlighted Ambassador Bond’s efforts to improve judicial and law enforcement collaboration between Trinidad and Tobago and the United States, commending her dedication to building bridges of understanding and cooperation, which has left an indelible mark on the relationship between our nations.
As she embarks on the next chapter of her life, the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, extends heartfelt gratitude to Ambassador Bond and looks forward to the enduring partnership she has helped to forge between our country and the United States of America.
