Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs delivers remarks on the occasion of the National Day of Spain

On Thursday 12th October 2023, Senator the Honourable Dr. Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs participated in the celebration of La Fiesta Nacional de España, the National Day of Spain, at the residence of His Excellency Fernando Nogales, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.

Minister Browne, in his remarks, underscored the value of the relationship between Trinidad and Tobago and Spain. The Minister took note of a number of contributions made by Spain in line with Trinidad and Tobago’s national priorities and reminded the gathering of the value of diplomacy in finding creative solutions to complex problems.

During his address, Ambassador Nogales summarised the work of the Embassy and briefly outlined the work undertaken by Spanish companies operating in Trinidad and Tobago. His Excellency announced the Mission’s plans for the future that, inter alia, would create opportunities to increase exports from Trinidad and Tobago to the European Union, accelerate the digital transformation and bring new investment opportunities to realise the energy transition.

The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and the Kingdom of Spain have enjoyed cordial diplomatic relations since 1967. In 2023, the two countries deepened their longstanding and fruitful bilateral relationship through a number High-Level meetings and technical exchanges.
