Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs meets with CARICOM Competition Commission Executive Director

On Tuesday July 5th 2022, Trinidad and Tobago reaffirmed its commitment to the CARICOM Competition Commission (CCC) when Senator the Honourable Dr. Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, met with Ms. Nievia Ramsundar, Executive Director of the CCC on the margins of the 43rd CARICOM Heads of Government Meeting held in Paramaribo, Suriname, from July 3rd to 5th 2022. The CCC is the body within CARICOM that has been established to promote fair competition within the Caribbean Community for the enhancement of economic efficiency and consumer welfare. The work of the Commission forms one of the pillars of the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME).
Ms. Ramsundar outlined the adjustments made by the CCC during the COVID-19 pandemic, and summarized the vision and plans for the organisation for the future.

Minister Browne reaffirmed Trinidad and Tobago’s commitment to the CCC and highlighted that the country placed great value on the Commission. Ms. Ramsundar thanked Minister Browne for the commitment and vowed to continue the work of the Commission as one of the key institutions in the CSME.
