Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs meets with His Excellency Fang Qiu, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago

Senator the Honourable Dr. Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, met with His Excellency Fang Qiu, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago on 22nd January 2024 at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs.

During the meeting, Minister Browne and Ambassador Fang had discussions on the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and the People’s Republic of China celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of Diplomatic Relations between both countries on 20th June 2024. In this regard, Minister Browne and Ambassador Fang exchanged ideas on events to be held throughout the year to commemorate this milestone.

Minister Browne took the opportunity to reiterate Trinidad and Tobago’s longstanding commitment to a One China Policy which has framed our excellent and productive relations with the People's Republic of China. Both officials reflected on the recent clear public articulation of this policy by Dr. the Honourable Keith Rowley, Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, at the opening of the Phoenix Park Industrial Estate on 10th January 2024.

The meeting ended cordially, with mutual expressions of commitment to working together to advance important issues on the bilateral agenda.
