Senator the Honourable Dr. Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs and officials of the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs met with Ms. Miriam Aertker, Head of the National Office of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) on Tuesday 21st March, 2023 at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs. Ms. Aertker was accompanied by Ms. Amanda Solano, Protection Officer, UNHCR and Ms. Gina Maharaj, Legal Associate, UNHCR.
During the meeting Ms. Aertker highlighted some of the projects currently being undertaken by the UNHCR in Trinidad and Tobago. The parties also discussed areas for further co-operation between the Government of Trinidad and Tobago and the organization, including with regard to the treatment of the migrant population in Trinidad and Tobago.
