Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs meets with His Excellency Kareem Essameldin Amin, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt

Senator the Honourable Dr. Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs met with His Excellency Kareem Essameldin Amin, non-resident Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, during a Courtesy Call today, 12th January, 2024 at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs. His Excellency also presented his Letters of Credence to Her Excellency Christina Carla Kangaloo, O.R.T.T., President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces today.

Discussions during the meeting focused on the strengthening of relations between Trinidad and Tobago and Egypt, particularly in the areas of energy, culture, and technical cooperation. The Minister and Ambassador also exchanged views on the ongoing war in Gaza and agreed on the need for an immediate ceasefire and an end to the bombardment of the civilian population.

Ambassador Amin is an experienced diplomat and medical doctor who previously served overseas in Australia, Kuwait and Sudan. He is based in Caracas, Venezuela, and is also accredited to Grenada and Trinidad and Tobago.
