MINISTER OF FOREIGN AND CARICOM AFFAIRS MEETS WITH NANA ASAFO BOAKYE III, RULER OF THE SANZULE KINGDOM IN THE EASTERN NZEMA DISTRICT, WESTERN REGION, GHANA

Senator the Honourable Dr. Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs met with Nana Asafo Boakye III, Ruler of the Sanzule Kingdom in the Eastern Nzema District, Western Region, Ghana during a courtesy call on 20th October, 2022 at the Ministry’s headquarters. This is Nana Boakye III’s first visit to Trinidad and Tobago.

During the courtesy call, Minister Browne emphasised the value placed by Trinidad and Tobago on its bilateral relationship with Ghana. Nana Boakye III in turn, recalled the assistance rendered by Trinidad and Tobago during Ghana’s fight for independence and, in particular, the efforts of an esteemed Trinidad and Tobago national, George Padmore. 

Additionally, both men discussed the potential for expanded cooperation between Trinidad and Tobago and Ghana, particularly in the energy sector. In this regard, Minister Browne informed Nana Boakye III of Trinidad and Tobago’s role in the provision of expertise to Ghana’s burgeoning energy sector. 

At the regional level, Minister Browne noted that the Caribbean Community was looking to enhance its relationship with African countries, and has placed focus on facilitating travel between the two regions, which would lead to greater business and tourism opportunities. 

 The courtesy call ended with both officials exchanging tributes of mutual esteem and consideration.
