MINISTER OF FOREIGN AND CARICOM AFFAIRS MEETS WITH NEWLY APPOINTED NON-RESIDENT HIGH-COMMISSIONER FOR THE ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF PAKISTAN TO THE REPUBLIC OF TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO

Senator the Honourable Dr. Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs met with His Excellency Shahbaz Mansoor Malik, newly-appointed non-resident High Commissioner for the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, during a courtesy call on 25th October, 2023 at the Ministry’s headquarters. Mr. Amjad Ali, Honorary Consul for Pakistan in Trinidad and Tobago, accompanied the High Commissioner to the courtesy call.

Minister Browne congratulated the High Commissioner on his appointment and highlighted the longstanding friendly relationship between Trinidad and Tobago and Pakistan that spans 60 years. The Minister remarked on the historical ties between Trinidad and Tobago and Pakistan which provide a platform for cultural exchanged and positive engagement between the countries.

High Commissioner Malik extended greetings on behalf of the President, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, indicating that Pakistan greatly values its relationship with Trinidad and Tobago and the cooperation in the multilateral sphere. Concerning strengthening the bilateral relationship between Trinidad and Tobago and Pakistan, His Excellency suggested that both governments explore opportunities to deepen trade.

Discussion during the meeting also included opportunities to explore training for diplomats, facilitating easier and increased tourism between the countries and other matters of political importance to Pakistan.

High Commissioner Malik presented Credentials on 24th October, 2023, to Her Excellency Christine Kangaloo, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, accrediting him as the non-resident High Commissioner for Pakistan to Trinidad and Tobago based in Havana, Cuba.
