MINISTER OF FOREIGN AND CARICOM AFFAIRS MEETS WITH NEWLY APPOINTED UNDP RESIDENT REPRESENTATIVE FOR TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO

Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Senator the Honourable Dr. Amery Browne met with Mr. Ugo Blanco, newly appointed United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative for Trinidad and Tobago, Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten during a courtesy call on 14th July, 2023, in order to present his Letters of Credence on assuming duty in Port of Spain.

Minister Browne welcomed Mr. Blanco to Trinidad and Tobago, and indicated his commitment to productive collaboration with Mr. Blanco and appreciation for the work of the United Nations in the development of Trinidad and Tobago.

The UNDP Resident Representative is responsible for ensuring that the UNDP programme and services support the national development priorities of the host country government and contribute to the United Nation’s development efforts to Agenda 2030 in the country.

Mr. Blanco will be leading the broad development mandate of the UNDP and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) agenda in Trinidad and Tobago as a connector and integrator across the SDGs. In his discourse with the Minister, Mr. Blanco has expressed an innate desire to help people, which was his primary reason for helping in disaster relief projects in several countries such as Indonesia, Haiti and Nepal. He further states that he is looking forward to working in Trinidad and Tobago in fulfilling the mandate of the UNDP.
