Senator the Honourable Dr. Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs and officials of the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs met with Mr. William Ferreira, Dean of the Honorary Consular Corps in Trinidad and Tobago and Honorary Consul for Portugal and Mr. Om Lalla, Secretary of the Corps and Honorary Consul for Slovenia, the newly elected members of the Executive of the Honorary Consular Corps in Trinidad and Tobago, on Tuesday 21st March 2023 at the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs.
During the meeting, Minister Browne took the opportunity to congratulate both Mr. Ferreira and Mr. Lalla, on their election as members of the Executive. The Minister highlighted the value of the role played by Honorary Consuls who serve both the nationals of the countries they represent and the general public. He stated that the Honorary Consuls are an important link in the strengthening of relations between Trinidad and Tobago and the countries on behalf of which they serve. Mr. Ferreira informed that during its tenure, the new Executive is seeking to increase the level of engagement with key stakeholders in Trinidad and Tobago, undertake more meaningful activities and lift the profile of the Corps, so that its members are better poised to execute their mandate.
The meeting ended cordially with the parties committing to work together to strengthen their relationship.
