Nationals of Trinidad and Tobago in Brussels remain vigilant

The Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs has been liaising with the Embassy for the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in Brussels, Belgium to ensure that all nationals of Trinidad and Tobago who are in Brussels are aware of the measures implemented by the Government of Belgium in response to the November 13, terrorist attacks in Paris. The city of Brussels has been placed on the highest level of alert since Monday November 16, 2015 and this will continue until Monday 30th November 2015, while the remainder of the country will operate at the second-highest level.
All members of staff of the Embassy are reported safe and security measures were implemented to ensure their continued protection. Nationals within the diaspora who are registered with the Embassy are also reported to be safe. The Embassy has encouraged all nationals to be vigilant and to adhere to the increased security measures, which had restricted the use of the subway system, limited the operations of many businesses and temporarily closed schools. As of Wednesday 25, schools had re-opened along with most sections of the subway transit systems.
