Senator the Honourable Dennis Moses announced on Wednesday 8th June, 2016 the appointment of four (4) new Heads of Mission to serve at Trinidad and Tobago’s overseas missions in Canada, South Africa, the United States of America and Venezuela.
His Excellency Garth Chatoor will take up the position of High Commissioner for Trinidad and Tobago to Canada while His Excellency Roger Gopaul will be Trinidad and Tobago’s High Commissioner to South Africa. His Excellency Brigadier General Anthony Phillips-Spencer is to be this country’s Ambassador to the United States of America and His Excellency Dr. Paul Byam is the Ambassador-designate to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
The new Heads of Mission will work to deepen bilateral and multilateral partnerships as they seek to advance the interests of Trinidad and Tobago globally. They will be guided by the Government’s policy framework which outlines national security; energy; trade and industry; health care; education; agriculture; tourism; small business development and entrepreneurship as some of the key areas of the national development agenda that form part of their remit.
