Presentation of Credentials by H.E. Dr. Lovell Francis to His Excellency Hakainde Hichilema, President of the Republic of Zambia on May 5 2022

His Excellency Dr. Lovell Francis, High Commissioner for the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to the Republic of South Africa, presented his Letters of Credence to His Excellency Hakainde Hichilema, President of the Republic of Zambia, on Thursday 5th May, 2022, at the State House in Lusaka, Zambia, accrediting him as non-resident High Commissioner for the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to the Republic of Zambia.

During his visit to Zambia, the High Commissioner had a brief meeting with the President of Zambia, which was also attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Honourable Stanley Kakubo, and the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Isabel Matyola Lemba. During this interaction, the High Commissioner provided a brief synopsis of the history of Trinidad and Tobago's exploits in the oil and gas industries and the broader global energy sector, and proffered the opportunity for both countries to explore future collaborations in this sector. The President noted the Government of Zambia’s interest in having discussions on this and other areas for cooperation.

The meeting ended cordially with both parties expressing a commitment to strengthening the bilateral relationship and cooperation in the interests of the peoples of both nations.

Trinidad and Tobago and Zambia established diplomatic relations in 1971.
