Senator the Honourable Dennis Moses, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, received His Excellency Vijavat Israbhakdi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, on Friday 6 November, 2015. It was the Ambassador’s first visit to the Caribbean region.
Ambassador Vijavat will serve as a non-resident Ambassador based at the Royal Thai Embassy in Ottawa, Canada. Trinidad and Tobago is one of four Caribbean countries to which the Ambassador will be accredited.
During the courtesy call, there was an exchange of views on areas for further cooperation between Trinidad and Tobago and Thailand with interest in trade and tourism. Issues on the multilateral agenda were also discussed, including each country’s candidature for non-permanent seats on the United Nations Security Council.
Ambassador Vijavat presented his Letters of Credence to His Excellency Anthony Thomas Aquinas Carmona, O.R.T.T., S.C., President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday 5 November, 2015.
