Senator the Honorable Dr. Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs met with His Excellency Didier Chabert, Ambassador of the French Republic on the morning of 27th November, 2024 at the Ministry’s headquarters.
The Meeting’s discussions centered on the High Level United Nations Conference to Support the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development (the 2025 UN Ocean Conference) scheduled to take place from 9th to 13th June, 2025 in Nice, France. The Conference will be hosted jointly with Costa Rica.
During the discussions, Ambassador Chabert outlined the Conference’s objective of bringing together stakeholders at the political and technical levels to establish a new ocean Agenda.
Minister Browne took the opportunity to congratulate the French Republic for their initiative to host the timely and relevant Conference with Costa Rica, and underscored that as a small island, large ocean state, the ocean remains a priority for Trinidad and Tobago. Minister Browne then confirmed Trinidad and Tobago’s participation and commitment to the success of the event.
