Senator the Honourable Dr. Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago addresses the Ninth ACS Summit in Antigua, Guatemala on 12 May 2023

On Friday 12 May 2023, Senator the Honourable Dr. Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago addressed the Ninth ACS Summit in Antigua, Guatemala.

The Summit was held under the theme “Innovating Integration Through the Sustainable Development of the Greater Caribbean” and sought to reinvigorate the commitment of ACS Member States in promoting actions, projects and cooperation programmes that contribute to the sustainable development of the peoples and nations of the Greater Caribbean.

The Minister’s address was consistent with the Declaration of Antigua, which will emanate from the Summit and it placed emphasis on integration, particularly South-South cooperation, as a vital route to sustainable development. ACS Member States at this Ninth Summit committed to taking cooperative action to, among other things, promote post-pandemic socio-economic recovery by building resilient and sustainable tourism industries, mitigating against the impact of climate change, promoting greater connectivity through improved regional transportation, taking concerted action to address barriers to development financing and stimulating innovation and technological advancement within the region.
