Senator the Honourable Dennis Moses, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs will be signing the Paris (Climate Change) Agreement on behalf of the Government of Trinidad and Tobago at the United Nations High-Level Signature Ceremony of the Paris (Climate Change) Agreement scheduled to be held on 22nd April, 2016 at the United Nations Headquarters, New York.
The Signature Ceremony is being convened by His Excellency Ban Ki-moon, Secretary-General of the United Nations in accordance with the decision of the Twenty-first Conference of States Parties (COP21) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), as a first step toward the implementation of the Paris Agreement and in facilitating its early entry into force.
Trinidad and Tobago joined 194 countries at the Twenty-first Conference of States Parties (COP21) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Paris, France on 12th December, 2015, in reaching agreement on a landmark framework (the Paris Agreement), to guide global action to reverse the unsustainable trajectory of Climate Change and global temperature increase in the post-2020 period.
During the absence of Minister Moses, Major General (Ret’d) the Honourable Edmund Dillon, Minister of National Security will perform the duties of the Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs.
