Colombia facilitates Spanish as a Foreign Language Course for Public Servants of Trinidad and Tobago

PORT OF SPAIN: 9TH NOVEMBER, 2016


The Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago has accepted an offer from the Government of the Republic of Colombia to provide Spanish as a Foreign Language Course for Public Servants from this country. The course which is five months in duration, commenced on 7th November, 2016 and is being facilitated by Ms. Nazira Santiago Escamilla, an experienced instructor from the esteemed Universidad del Norte in Barranquila, Colombia.

Over fifty participants from various divisions of the Ministry of National Security as well as the Ministry of Planning and Development will benefit from this course which, apart from improving the Spanish proficiency of participants, aims to provide exposure to Colombian culture. The Ambassador of Colombia to Trinidad and Tobago, His Excellency Jaime Acosta Carvajal expressed his enthusiasm that Trinidad and Tobago was able to take up this offer and believes that this initiative will continue to bring the people of both countries closer together. His Excellency the Ambassador also expressed the hope that this instalment of the course will be the first of many more for years to come.
