Trinidad and Tobago and India sign Memorandum of Understanding for Fruit and Vegetable Processing Activities

Senator the Honourable Dr. Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs of Trinidad and Tobago and Dr. the Honourable Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of India, signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and the Government of the Republic of India for Integrated Automated Fruit and Vegetable Processing. The MOU was signed in the margins of the Second CARICOM-India Summit which took place in Georgetown, Guyana on 20th November, 2024.

The MOU will pave the way for the creation of economic and employment opportunities in the field of agro-processing, through the provision, by India, of up to US$1 million in financing and technical assistance to Trinidad and Tobago. The project will be implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries through the National Agricultural Marketing and Development Corporation (NAMDEVCO).

The signing of this MOU is a further step towards the deepening of ties and the expansion of the areas of cooperation between Trinidad and Tobago and India.
