In commemoration of World Steelpan Day, 11th August, 2024, Her Excellency Analisa Low, Ambassador of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to the People’s Republic of China, participated in a cultural exchange activity at the Taishan University in Tai An, Shandong Province, China.
Joining Ambassador Low on this historic occasion was Mr. Dou Qingbo, Vice Mayor of Tai An, and Ms. Zhang Shoufeng, Vice President of Taishan University.
During the activity, the Ambassador launched a steelpan exhibition at the University and unveiled the commemorative plaque of the Tai An (China) –Trinidad and Tobago Steelpan Cultural Exchange Centre. A Joint Statement of Support for Cultural and Educational Cooperation between Taishan University and the University of Trinidad and Tobago and A Statement of Intent on Friendship and Cooperation between the Embassy of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and Tai An were also released.
The event featured the launch of a commemorative video by Trinidad and Tobago pannist Mr. Joshua Regrello, specially prepared for World Steelpan Day, and live cultural performances by the Trinidad and Tobago band, the Night Shift, and Chinese students from Taishan University.
