Farewell Courtesy Call by H.E. The Most Reverend Archbishop Fortunatus Nwachukwu

On 17 February 2022, His Excellency The Most Reverend Archbishop Fortunatus Nwachukwu, Titular Archbishop of Acquaviva, Apostolic Nuncio of the Holy See to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, paid a farewell courtesy call on Senator the Honourable Dr. Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs.

The Apostolic Nuncio, who was accredited to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago on 28 February 2018, and also served as the Ambassador of the Holy See to the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), has been reassigned as the Permanent Observer of the Holy See to the United Nations (UN) Office and Specialized Agencies in Geneva, as well as the Permanent Observer to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the Representative of the Holy See to the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

Minister Browne also commended His Excellency on his tenure as Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, and reflected that it was a pleasure working with him in that capacity as well. Following the accolades, there was a presentation of a token of appreciation to the Apostolic Nuncio and the Minister conveyed best wishes on behalf of Dr. the Honourable Keith Rowley MP, Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, and his gratitude for the prayers, kindness and wisdom bestowed by the Apostolic Nuncio during his four (4) year tenure in Trinidad and Tobago.

The Apostolic Nuncio reflected, with appreciation, on his time spent in the country, which was enriched by the warmth bestowed by the nationals and the kind assistance of the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in the fulfilment of his mandate.

The meeting ended with a reaffirmation of the close partnership between the two countries.
