In the context of the historical ties, strong friendship and robust cooperation between the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and the Peoples’ Republic of China, that country’s Embassy handed over Protective Personal Equipment (PPE) to the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago during a Hand Over Ceremony, which took place at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs on 1st May, 2020.
During the Hand Over Ceremony, His Excellency Song Yumin, Ambassador for the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, expressed his appreciation for the solidarity of the Government and People of Trinidad and Tobago when his country faced the outbreak of COVID-19. Ambassador Song Yumin handed over 14,200 masks and 100 protective overalls on behalf of the Henan and Shanghai Provincial People’s Governments to Senator the Honourable Dennis Moses, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs. He also took the opportunity to commend the Government of Trinidad and Tobago on the measures implemented to slow the spread of the virus.
On receiving the items, Senator the Honourable Dennis Moses, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, thanked the Ambassador on behalf of the Government and People of the Republic Trinidad and Tobago for the donation and the support of the People’s Republic of China since the start of the COVID-19 outbreak in Trinidad and Tobago. He added that today’s donation, along with the previous 44,700 plus items received previously, will go a long way in equipping our frontline workers treating with COVID-19 patients and attributed the ongoing collaboration in the fight against COVID-19 to the longstanding friendly relations between the two countries.
