On Tuesday 4th October, 2016, His Excellency Roger Gopaul presented His Letters of Credence to His Excellency Jacob Zuma, President of the Republic of South Africa, accrediting him as High Commissioner of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to the Republic of South Africa.
His Excellency Roger Gopaul and his wife, Anita, were received by His Excellency Jacob Zuma at the Presidential Guest House in Pretoria, following a salute from a contingent of the South African military.
During the exchange, President Zuma acknowledged the crucial role played by Trinidad and Tobago against the Apartheid system. President Zuma expressed gratitude for the unwavering support given to South Africa to take its place among the democratic and free nations of the world, and also shared his hope that the Republic of South Africa would deepen its friendship and bilateral relationship with the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
In his remarks before the Presentation of Credentials, His Excellency Gopaul assured President Zuma of Trinidad and Tobago’s commitment to build and strengthen the capacities of both Nations through bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the field of culture, education, energy and political consultation.
