MINISTER OF FOREIGN AND CARICOM AFFAIRS MEETS WITH MR. PIETER BULT, THE UNITED NATIONS CHILDREN’S FUND (UNICEF) REPRESENTATIVE FOR THE EASTERN CARIBBEAN AREA

Senator the Honourable Dr. Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, met with Mr. Pieter Bult, the newly appointed Representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) for the Eastern Caribbean on 11th October, 2022 at the Ministry’s headquarters. This was the first official meeting between the Honourable Minister and Mr. Bult, who presented his Letters of Appointment to Minister Browne. Mr. Bult will be based in Barbados and will have responsibility for UNICEF matters related to Trinidad and Tobago.

Minister Browne extended a warm welcome to Mr. Bult and assured him that Trinidad and Tobago looks forward to continuing its fruitful and engaging relationship with UNICEF. The Minister thanked UNICEF for its continued support and contribution to the Rights of Children in Trinidad and Tobago.

Discussions during the meeting focused on technical assistance for the development of the overall welfare of children, promotion of education and opportunities for further collaboration between Trinidad and Tobago and UNICEF.

Mr. Bult, who was previously a UNICEF Assistant Programme Officer based in Barbados during the period 1994 to 1995, said he was happy to be back in the Caribbean region.

The meeting concluded with the articulation of a commitment by both parties to work together to advance the already productive ties between Trinidad and Tobago and UNICEF.
