MINISTER OF FOREIGN AND CARICOM AFFAIRS MEETS WITH THE AMBASSADOR OF THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA

Minister Browne and Ambassador Fang exchanged updates on issues on the domestic agendas of Trinidad and Tobago and China and discussed the bilateral cooperation between the countries. The Minister and the Ambassador considered the success of the recent visit of a Trade Delegation from Zhejiang Province, China, to the China-Trinidad and Tobago Trade Fair, which included officials from Zhejiang Province and the representatives of twenty-two (22) Chinese companies. They shared the desire for the organisation of more events of that nature.

Minister Browne and Ambassador Fang discussed the completion of the Phoenix Park Industrial Estate, which is being developed with the support of the Government of China as the flagship project in Trinidad and Tobago under China’s Belt and Road Initiative, which is expected to contribute to the economic diversification of Trinidad and Tobago and enhanced trade between Trinidad and Tobago and China.

The meeting ended cordially with mutual agreement to continue close communication anchored by Trinidad and Tobago’s longstanding One China Policy.
