Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs meets with United Nations Representative a.i. to Trinidad and Tobago, Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten

Senator the Honourable Dr. Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs and officials of the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs met with Mr. Gerardo Noto, United Nations Resident Representative a.i. to Trinidad and Tobago, Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten on Tuesday 10th January 2023 at the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs.

The meeting commenced with Minister Browne’s warm welcome to Mr. Noto to the Ministry. Mr. Noto explained that the purpose for the visit was to introduce the profile of the incoming United Nations Resident Representative, Mr. Ugo Blanco.

Other issues discussed were the work of the UNDP, specifically the launch of a new solar project, which will take place in Tobago on Friday 13th January, 2023 and solar projects that the UNDP is interested in undertaking in Trinidad and Tobago. Minister Browne expressed an interest in the development of these new solar initiatives and expressed his hope that, despite the imminent assumption of the official UNDP Resident Representative, Mr. Noto would continue to serve in the region.

The meeting concluded with the articulation of a commitment by both parties to continue to work together to strengthen ties between Trinidad and Tobago and the UNDP.
