Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs participates in the 4th CARICOM - India Ministerial Meeting in Guyana

Senator the Honourable Dr. Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, participated in the 4th CARICOM-India Ministerial Meeting held on 21st April, 2023 in Georgetown, Guyana. The Meeting was co-chaired by Senator the Honourable Kamina Johnson Smith, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica and Incoming Chair of the Council on Foreign and Community Relations (COFCOR) and His Excellency Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of India.

Among the topics discussed were Sectoral Cooperation in the areas of Trade and Economy, Agriculture and Food Security, Health and Pharma, Energy including Renewable Energy, ICT and E-governance, Development Partnership, Higher Education as well as Culture and People-to-people Exchanges. Both sides also deliberated on multilateral issues for example Climate Change/Disaster Resilience, Counter Terrorism, United Nations Security Council Reforms and Candidatures.

Minister Browne was the lead CARICOM speaker on Energy including Renewable Energy and on Culture and People-to-people Exchanges.

The 4th CARICOM-India Ministerial Meeting served as a forum for CARICOM States to remain engaged with India, to strengthen CARICOM-India relations and to explore potential areas of cooperation.
