Senator the Honourable Dr. Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs received His Excellency Jon Mark Dean, High Commissioner-designate for the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago during a courtesy call on 16th January, 2025, at the Ministry’s headquarters.
The courtesy call was held prior to the High Commissioner-designate’s Presentation of Credentials to Her Excellency Christine Carla Kangaloo, ORTT, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
The meeting commenced with Minister Browne extending a warm welcome to High Commissioner-designate Dean. The Minister underscored that the United Kingdom has been a reliable partner to Trinidad and Tobago in finding sustainable solutions across a wide range of sectors. He also highlighted the musical, ethnic and cultural diversity of Trinidad and Tobago and invited His Excellency to immerse himself in this country’s Carnival festivities and in the various aspects of our culture.
High Commissioner-designate Dean expressed his delight at being able to serve in Trinidad and Tobago and shared his conviction that his tenure would prove rewarding, both on the personal and professional levels. He stated that there were areas of cooperation both countries could further explore together, such as an upcoming Security Trade Mission which is to be hosted in Port of Spain in February, 2025.
The meeting concluded with Minister Browne offering congratulations to the High Commissioner-designate on his appointment as his country’s representative to Trinidad and Tobago.
