Staff of the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs joined the Hindu community of Trinidad and Tobago and the world to observe Divali, with an event held on 29th October, 2024 at the Ministry’s headquarters.
Senator the Honourable Dr. Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs delivered the feature address on the occasion, with reference to this year’s Divali Nagar theme, ‘Grihastha Ashram: Building Homes and Families. Minister Browne indicated that this theme “resonates deeply with our shared values…strong families are the bedrock of our society, fostering love, support and growth, and when our homes are harmonious we bring that positivity into our workplaces.” He further underlined that Divali is a time to promote gratitude for what we have. In this regard, he took the opportunity to sincerely acknowledge and thank the staff of the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs for their hard work and dedication. The Minister concluded by reminding staff to let the light of Divali illuminate their lives, workplaces and communities by being beacons of light to spread love, kindness and positivity to conquer the darkness of the world.
The event featured a bhajan sung by members of staff, a Classical Indian dance performed by Shalini Seethahal and an entertaining ‘Pick a Pan’ game segment which featured questions on Divali. Delicious Indian cuisine prepared by staff members of the Ministry was also served on the occasion.
