SENATOR THE HONOURABLE DR. AMERY BROWNE, MINISTER OF FOREIGN AND CARICOM AFFAIRS MET WITH MR. CARLOS PEREZ, DIRECTOR OF THE DEPARTMENT OF MEXICO, LATIN AMERICA AND THE CARIBBEAN OF THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS (MRE) OF BRAZIL

Senator the Honourable Dr. Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago held bilateral talks with Mr. Carlos Perez, Director of the Department of Mexico, Latin America and the Caribbean of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE) of Brazil on Friday 12th May, 2023, in the margins of the Ninth ACS Summit in Antigua, Guatemala.

The dialogue focused on deepening the partnership between Trinidad and Tobago and Brazil as well as renewing CARICOM-Brazil cooperation. In this regard, a commitment was made to reformulate cooperation mechanisms to allow for more meaningful support of regional priorities such as advocacy in relation to climate change and advancing the regional food and nutrition security agenda.

The meeting ended with discussion of the Presidency of the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly 2023-2024, the elections for which will be held in June 2023.
