The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and Canada are pleased to celebrate the 62nd Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations on the occasion of the 62nd Anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. Canada was one of three countries to immediately recognize Trinidad and Tobago’s Independence and our relationship has since flourished.
With the strong base of excellent people-to-people linkages and shared commitments to democracy and human rights, Trinidad and Tobago and Canada continue to build on this foundation. Most recently, our cooperation in the area of women, peace and security is contributing to the establishment of Trinidad and Tobago’s national action plan, and the expansion of visa free travel to many citizens of Trinidad and Tobago is contributing to stronger business and educational ties.
The Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs and the High Commission of Canada wish Trinidad andTobago a joyous Independence Day and look forward to continuing excellent relations between our two countries.
