TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO ESTABLISHES DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS WITH ANGOLA

PORT OF SPAIN: 8TH DECEMBER, 2022

The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago’s Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Dr. the Honourable Amery Browne, joined the Minister of External Affairs of the Republic of Angola, the Honourable Téte António, on the evening of 7th December 2022 to sign the Joint Communique officially establishing Diplomatic Relations between the two countries. The event took place in the city of Luanda at Angola's Ministry of External Affairs.

Minister Browne is in Angola representing Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Keith Rowley at the OACPS (Organisation of African, Caribbean, and Pacific States) Summit, and in his capacity as President of the Ministerial Council of the OACPS. Trinidad and Tobago’s Ambassador to Brussels His Excellency Colin Connelly joined the Minister at the signing ceremony.

Minister Browne and Minister António addressed the Angolan media after the event, and both officials emphasized the historical ties that link the two nations and the strong potential for collaborations in the energy sector, agriculture, trade and investments, and other areas of mutual interest, and for further cooperation at multilateral fora.
